One Minute Challenge

On Thursday I did the one minute challenge which is where you shoot a basketball into the hoop from any spot on the court and you have to get as many shots into the hoop as you can in one minute. I took more than one attempt because I was not happy with how it turned out. I ended up with a total score of 11 out of 13 shots. I found it really fun and I recommend it.

Do you like basketball?

Writing

For the last few weeks in writing we have been writing about a story about the zoo. The story was inspired by a kids book called the zoo. The book zoo is about a family trip where they go to the zoo and it becomes a disaster. For the story we copied the main idea of the story but we changed it up a bit. I really enjoyed writing because we got to change it up to what we liked.

Here is my writing

Te Reo

Hello and welcome to my Blog.

This week for Te Reo we had to create a poster about five key attributes of Tikanga. Tikanga means the right way to do the right thing at the right time. The five key attributes of Tikanga is heads where you avoid touching one another’s head, table where it is disrespectful to sit on a table, walking is when there is food on the ground and rather than walking over it walk around it and lastly food, it is disrespectful to pass food over the head.

Here is my google drawing.

Athletics Day

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.

On Tuesday 25th October St Francis we had athletics at Rawhiti Domian with Year 1-8, with all types of different sports activitie. First the year 6 boys had to compete in the 60 meter sprints. I enjoyed it but I am more an 80 meter sprinter so that is why I did much better in that race. A few minutes later the year 6 boys were called over to do the 1000 meter long distance race, it was quite tiring but in the end it was good because I came top 5. A few minutes later we did Shot Put I did not do that well in this sport but it was still enjoyable. Around half an hour later we had to do high jump, we had to manage to jump 105cm to make it into zones, only two of us managed to jump over the limit but it was still fun. Immediately after we did discus where some people had really good and some people were quite bad this one was probably my least favourite because I never really enjoy it. Lastly we did long jump, I did well in the sport because just like long distance I came top 5.

My favourite sport was definitely long jump because I feel like I can be better than I was this year.

Something I was really proud of this year was that I did really well in a lot of these sports without training a lot.

My goal for next year is to train harder so that I can do much better than what I did in my previous year.

What is your favourite sport in athletics?

Social Justice Week

Kia ora everyone and welcome back to my blog.

For the past few weeks Tumu has been learning about social justice. This week for social justice week we had to make a fact file about someone who stood up for social justice. I picked Muhammad Ali because I thought  he helped a lot in the community by standing up for racism  and for standing up for anti war during the Vietnam war. I really liked this project and I thought it was very fun.

Here is my Fact File.

I hoped you liked it, who do you think stood up for social justice?

My Animation

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog.

This week for writing we had to make a pick-a-path or animation on google slides to replicate the space writing that we did a few weeks ago.

I picked an animation because I thought It would be easier, look better and be more fun then a pick-a-path.

The planet that I chose was Neptune because I like the cold, I love the colour blue and I think it seems like a very cosy planet.

I really enjoyed this project and I’m happy with how it turned out because I love space and I love the idea that I am taking a tour to a planet outside of our own.

I hoped you liked it, what’s your favourite planet?

Water Cycle

Kia ora welcome back to my blog, this week for writing we finished our water cycle tour which was a tour talking about the water cycle and how it works.

The way that it worked was the teacher would give us a sentence and we would have to switch up a few of the words so that it would stand out more.

The order that it went in was you start in the ocean then you will evaporate into water vapour that overtime will turn you into a cloud. After that the whole process it will happen over and over again which is why it’s called the water cycle.

My Mars Base

Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog.

For my create task everyone in our hub was told to make a Mars base which is needed to survive on mars.

The new learning that I have is that you really have to think what is necessary and design it well because if you don’t everyone is going to notice and say that that would not work.

I am proud of my work because I think it looks very cool and is designed very well with all the extra little details.

Next time I will add even more detail and add way more room so I can fit more people because it felt pretty small for four people.

Here is my Mars base

I hope you liked it, what is your favourite planet?

CSO Christchurch Symphony Orchestra

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog.

On Wednesday August 17th the “CSO” came to our school to teach us about the instruments that they use.

The instrument that I liked the most was trombone because I liked the way it sounded and how it worked.

The thing that surprised me the most was that the string family weren’t all just violin there were big, big ones like the double base and the ones that were slightly bigger like the viola.

The thing I found interesting was that all the musical instruments had their own family for example there is woodwind, string, brass and percussion I found all of that interesting because I never really was into music instruments and orchestra so it was really interesting.

I hope you liked it, what was your favourite instrument?

Wk2 Swimming Blog

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog.

We have just finished two weeks of swimming lessons at QEII.

In my last blog post I wanted to use this week to improve on getting to know my buddy more. I have been successful because I spent more time with him which was really fun.

This week, we did a lot of water safety skills. Something that I have learnt is that if you jump into cold water then you will inhale all the water which will make it harder to swim back to safety, so what you have to do is hold onto your nose so you don’t inhale and this is important because if you fall into the water and it is cold it is very dangerous.

The thing that I enjoyed the most this week was the life jacket safety time on Thursday because we got to roll off the boat just like how it really is in real life if you’re far at sea and the life guard comes to save you.

Something that I want to learn next time I have swimming lessons at school is how to do different strokes and more unique ones because I feel like a lot of people already know that by now.

Hope you enjoyed it, what is your favourite stroke?
